Planning update

Engagement ring - check (we got it reset, and B picked it up yesterday- it's stunning!! I love it :) )
Place - check (Ein Yael)
Dress - check (I'm having it handmade for me, by Michal Taylor)
Jewelry - check (I'll be wearing things I already own)
Shoes - check (I just bought a new pair today, pic below!)
Makeup - check (I think- the plan is to go get it done by someone at MAC on the day of, by appointment)

There's a seamstress here in J that I went to see a couple of weeks ago, and she has some really nice stuff. I'm planning to go see her tomorrow with my friend H to decide whether I want her to make my dress. It would probably be something like this:

Wedding dress shopping- take 1

I saw this dress in TA today. without the flower on the neck it was rather flattering on me. Might be a bit too quirky tho...

Then there was this dress that I saw at a seamstress that a friend recommended.

It was quite flattering, and the lady was really nice.
I would probably want to change the neckline a little bit. And some delicate lace in place of the crystal band at the waist. It's expensive, but i'm leaving it as a possibility.

Handmade wedding dresses

So I found someone new! Yourfairytalewedding, on Etsy.
Her work is amazing. I know some might be worried about ordering a wedding dress without trying it on, but she has great feedback and her designs are great.

This bride also had a great hairstyle... perhaps a bit much for some people, but definitely something i'd consider :)

I know it's expensive, but the fabric is stunning. Seriously. Italian silk jacquard...
The dress is so simple. But it's incredible!
If I could get away with wearing a strapless dress, this one would definitely be near the top of my list!

My dream dress

I know I've posted this before... but I can't resist.
Imagine the top of this dress, with the waist-detail-and-down of the dress in the previous post--in ivory coloured silk jacquard, or taffeta. Would be amazing, no?

Besides the fact that the model here is gorgeous... and the colour of the fabric is amazing...
I love the waist detail on this dress. Would be great for a wedding dress, in ivory. Or for any occasion for that matter.

And not too expensive, as wedding dresses go... under $400.
Would be great for a slightly less formal wedding :)

Nordstrom has done it again!

Yeah, so i know this may not be such a common choice for a wedding dress, but i can't imagine wearing one of those formal ball gown types... and i think this is adorable. I think i'd get it made long, or at least calf length. but the design is great. and i love the detail.

There's also tons of other dresses--all different styles and degrees of formality, and all for great prices. definitely worth checking out... for bridesmaids or the bride herself...

A Peace Treaty

A friend of mine from school has a sister who came out with a collection called A Peace Treaty. It's a line of ethically produced, artisan-level accessories and apparel for the luxury fashion marketplace. I know, it's a mouthful :) They have some awesome scarves. She and her friend, who conceived A Peace Treaty together, along with some of their friends, model the line, which i think is really cool.

Besides her new line, she has impeccable style--in my opinion anyway... these are two random photos of her. The reason i wanted to put them up here is cuz i thought they'd be great inspiration for those designing a wedding dress. enjoy!

J crew again

Sorry my posts have been a little sparse. it's coming up to exam time over here in the real world, so i'll be pretty busy for the next little while.

anyway, back to the dress thing--it's funny, cuz i'm not usually the hugest fan of jcrew, but their new line of party/wedding dresses has been great.

Flower girls?

I couldn't resist mentioning flower girl dresses. the little ones are just too cute! These are from Fox 'n Lily.

The junior bridesmaid dresses are really cute too. this is the one to match the flower girl dress. i think it's quite lovely--almost suitable for the bride herself :)

J Crew dresses
